The Story of Our Adoption of Rudy
Submitted by Kay and Rudy

We had never had a bloodhound before but I always wanted one. After my dog of 18 years pasted away I started looking on the internet for breeders. To my surprise I came across the Bloodhound Bunch. I knew that was for me. I needed to take in a dog that was unwanted. After contacting the group Julie contacted me and told me about a boy in New York in need of a home. I was so excited. I think I contacted everybody I knew and told them of our up coming adoption. I only had to wait a couple of weeks but it seemed a life time. After all the arrangements were made I was off to New Jersey to pick up Rudy! Of course I had to take the welcoming committee along. I was so excited that I didn't think we would never get there. Well we finally got there and I saw the jeep pull in with the dog! After the owner and I exchanged information the time had come for me to see Rudy. Now let me remind you that I was told he was 18 months old, I was thinking of this cute little pup. When he opened the door and out came the huge dog and I was shocked, I started thinking what have I got myself into? His owner handed me the leash and we were off into the bushes! My friend and father came to my rescue and all three of us had the leash and we all three went flying into the bushes! Well then we started home, Rudy was a perfect gentleman in the car. When we arrived home all my friends and family was waiting to meet Rudy.

I think he unwrapped gifts for about an hour. Then he put on a wonderful show! He howled and ran and played with everyone! I thought this isn't so bad, boy was I in for a shock! After everyone left and it was time to go in the house the slobber was flying everywhere! I was told by he owner he was house broken and did well in the house. So we all went to bed . The next morning my husband found our new living room suite was all chewed up! Also the TV remote. Things were not good at our house. So that day we got Rudy a carrier and solved all of our problems. He has become my best friend. He keeps me warm at night, and makes sure I get my exercise every day chasing him around to get my socks from him. He is the funniest dog I have ever come across. He will steal anything he isn't suppose to have, and the chase is on. Oh yes and does he snore!!

I just want to tell everyone if you are looking for a new pet and a friend think about adopting a bloodhound. They will bring hours of enjoyment to you and your family. Love- they will give you all the love you could ever want. Well its time for Rudy to take his afternoon nap so I will close for now.

Take care,
Kay and Rudy
